Weakley County Ag Teachers Recognized at TAAE Conference

This is the image for the news article titled Weakley County Ag Teachers Recognized at TAAE ConferenceThe Tennessee Association of Agricultural Education (TAAE) recognized two Weakley County educators at their recent conference in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Dresden High School’s Jon Holden received 30 Minute Club recognition for publishing an article outside the state lines. Holden regularly writes a series in the Southern Tradition Outdoor Magazine. He was also named Outstanding Early Career Teacher for West Tennessee and was recognized for completing five years of teaching.

Jason Kemp, Dresden High ag teacher and manager of the Weakley County Schools Livestock Production Farm, garnered several accolades. He, too, was recognized for promotion of ag studies in the magazine TN CoOperative and was spotlighted as a Teacher of Teachers on the Bronze level, having mentored more than three current ag educators. In addition, Kemp was spotlighted as the West Tennessee regional winner, state winner, and multi-state Region V winner of the Outstanding Service Citation Award. This award is the result of a vote by fellow teachers at each level.

TAAE is an association of members that are involved in school-based agricultural education at any level, from middle school through post-secondary, and state agricultural education leaders. They advocate for agricultural education, provide professional development for agricultural educators, and work to recruit and retain agricultural educators in the profession.
