DHS students, Jhene Shane and Jordin Cornett, had the opportunity to attend the WestStar ALStar African American Youth Summit that was held on Jan. 29th at UTM. Sophomores from across West Tennesee were invited to learn more about potential careers, network with fellow students, and meet professionals from several different career fields.
The summit is sponsored by the WestStar Leadership Program. The initials in ALStar (pronounced like "all-star") stand for African-American Leadership. A distinguished panel featured alumni from several University of Tennessee campuses, including Chancellor Yancy Freeman's son, Yancy Jr., who graduated from UT Chattanooga.
