Weakley County Schools invites the community to join Dresden Middle School for an annual Field of Heroes ceremony honoring the service and sacrifice of local veterans on November 8 at 11 AM on the front lawn of Dresden Middle School.
Organized by DMS educators, community partners, and the Northwest Tennessee Eagle Riders, the Field of Heroes is a not-for-profit initiative created to inspire reflection and gratitude ahead of Veterans Day.
Memorial flags, each purchased in honor of a veteran, past or present, combat or peacetime, now fill the front lawn of Dresden Middle School. Every flag is tagged with a veteran’s name and stands as a symbol of pride, patriotism, and reverence. The display will remain open to the public from November 8 through November 23, offering families and community members a place to visit and pay tribute.
“Part of our role as educators is to teach students how to honor those who came before them,” said Betsi Foster, Assistant Director of Schools. “The Field of Heroes gives our students a tangible way to show gratitude and understand the true meaning of service and sacrifice.”
Weakley County Schools invites families, veterans, and community members to stand together in this shared moment of gratitude and remembrance, honoring the courage and service that continue to unite and strengthen our communities.
