Brittany Robinson, Director of WeeGrow Academy

Weakley County Schools is thrilled to announce Brittany Robinson as the director of WeeGrow Academy, a new childcare center created to support Weakley County Schools employees and their families.

Robinson brings more than 20 years of experience in childcare, serving families and young learners across West Tennessee.  Robinson will officially begin her role in early November as the district prepares for WeeGrow Academy’s anticipated opening in early 2027.

As director, Robinson will play an active role in the final stages of developing WeeGrow Academy, including hiring and building the center’s team, developing procedures and curriculum, preparing for enrollment, and helping shape an environment designed around the developmental needs of young children.

“Brittany brings not only tremendous experience in childcare, but also a genuine enthusiasm for creating spaces where children can learn, play, explore, and feel cared for,” said Jeff Cupples, Director of Weakley County Schools. “Her experience and passion for early childhood learning will be incredibly valuable as we build a program that supports our youngest children and the employees and families who serve our schools each day.”

Robinson’s approach to early childhood education centers on creating nurturing environments where children are encouraged to be curious and learn through everyday experiences. Her ability to build meaningful connections with children and families will be central to the culture being developed at WeeGrow Academy.

“I am incredibly excited to be part of WeeGrow Academy during such an important stage of its development,” Robinson said. “I look forward to helping create a place where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn, and where families feel confident knowing their children are being cared for each day.”

WeeGrow Academy grew from conversations with WCS employees about one of the challenges increasingly affecting working families: access to dependable childcare. After considerable research and planning, the district was able to secure grants and other funding to launch the childcare program.

Located in Dresden, WeeGrow Academy will serve children ages six weeks through five years old and operate during the Weakley County Schools academic year. Enrollment will be available to children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren of WCS employees. Families who enroll will pay tuition for services.

For WCS, the project is both an investment in early childhood development and an effort to recruit, retain, and support the employees serving students throughout Weakley County.

“We want our teachers and staff to be able to focus on the important work they are doing in our classrooms, schools, and offices without having to wonder whether they can find reliable care for their own children,” Cupples added. “WeeGrow is one more way we can help the people who spend every day taking care of our students.”

WeeGrow Academy is expected to open in early 2027, with Robinson beginning work in November to help guide the center through its final stages of preparation.
